Reasons to Stay at a New England Bed & Breakfast

When I told my boss I was going on vacation to the East Coast, she asked “Are you visiting the New England area? If so, lucky you!” From what she says, New England is known for its beautiful, scenery, breathtaking mountains, lush wildlife, crystal-clear lakes and historic landmarks. “So, while you are there”, she said, “don’t just stay in a cookie-cutter hotel. Take advantage of all of the amazing bed and breakfasts New England has to offer! So of course I had to ask, “Why choose a New England Bed and Breakfast? I always stay at a chain hotel”. Well, apparently THAT was the wrong question to ask because she spent 20 minutes praising bed and breakfast; I definitely learned quite a bit.
Each bed and breakfast is unique. Whether you decide to stay at a Connecticut bed and breakfast in Old Lyme or a Massachusetts bed and breakfast in Martha’s Vineyard, each inn will be have a personality all its own, unlike a hotel chain, which exactly the same in every city.
Bed and breakfasts also are warm and personal. In B&Bs, you can actually speak with the innkeepers themselves and have the opportunity to make special requests if necessary. I’ve never even BEEN in a place with an innkeeper! It is the innkeeper’s job to make your stay as comfortable as can be. It is his or her job to make you feel at home.
But she was most emphatic about the food. Bed and breakfasts offer something hotels cannot-the guarantee of a fresh breakfast every day of your stay. And many B&Bs will cater directly to your tastes. So, if you are a vegetarian, like me, the innkeeper will keep that in mind when preparing your meals. Heck, that alone sold me!

I have never been to the eastern part of the United States but I have heard that the area is absolutely beautiful and that bed and breakfast places are definitely the way to go when you visit.
