Be a Little Bit Bold

boldSo many people go through life worrying about what others will think of them. They hold themselves back because of this. It’s sad to see.

I’m not the most outgoing person that you’ll ever meet. I don’t do things that shock a lot of people. Nevertheless, I know how to be just a little bit bold.

This boldness comes out in ways that are socially acceptable. For example, I found this great pair of ridiculous cowgirl boots in a thrift store a few months back. Now I wear them everywhere. They’re funky and they don’t always go with my outfit. I don’t care.

Another bit of boldness in me can be seen when you walk into my living room. I have a crazy rug with an Andy Warhol style design on it. It sits in the middle of my room and is topped with bean bag chairs. I am probably too old to have these things but I love them anyway.

Being bold doesn’t have to mean being loud or obnoxious or overly noticeable. Being bold can simply mean finding things that you love and loving them even if it’s a little bit silly sometimes. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the only way to really live.

I’m so sick of people associating whimsy and style with a youthfulness or lack of gravitas. I can be a serious person and still like funky hair accessories or really bright colors. I don’t think those two things are mutually exclusive!

Always be bold! As Virgil said, “Audaces fortuna iuvat”, which is, of course, fortune favors the bold! I’m a big believer in instinct; trust yourself and your heart, no matter how bold it will be, and you’ll be happy!

They say that because of the recession, everyone wants to buy bright, eye catching and invigorating things this season, so who knows, you might just be onto something! Very avant garde of you!

Can’t your style just be whatever makes you happy? I’ve never understood the laws of coordination or anything like that; I just wear whatever is comfortable and situationally appropriate.

I’m all about my cowboy boots! As a Texas girl displaced in Boston, they’re kind of my identity and my little piece of home all in one; they say a lot about who I am and what I care about. Besides, these boots were made for walkin’, right?

Hey, do whatever makes you happy. Whenever I’m with a girl I can tell if she’s happy with the way she looks or not, so believe me, it shows. Besides, why please anyone if not yourself?

I think a little dash of bold is required in all measures of life; a little bold in business, you’ll get where you want faster. In fashion, you’ll look great. And in your life, being bold makes you ballsy and confident, so congratulations on being bold!
