Take Advantage Of Florida Health Insurance Cooling-Off Period
By DJ on Aug 24, 2008 in Health/Medical
After purchasing health insurance FL residents have the right to change their mind about their policy, if done within a specific number of days. According to state law, Florida residents who purchase a new insurance policy are entitled to what is called a “free look” period. This law gives consumers a 15 day window, in which to decide if they want to keep the policy or cancel it, receiving a full refund of premiums paid in order to have opened the policy. This is in place to protect the consumer, as well as to save the insurance companies the aggravation of dealing with irate clients who didn’t research their policies before receiving the documentation.
Once you have purchased a Florida small group health plan for your business or purchased an individual health plan, be sure to take the time to review all documentation carefully within the stated period. If you are not happy with what you read, contact the insurer and file a cancellation. As this law reaches statewide, no matter where you purchase health insurance Miami or Jacksonville, you are still entitled to review and cancel your new health plan within the 15 day cooling off period, with no charges at all.
