Dealing with a drug addiction

Having a friend or family member who has an active drug problem is never an easy thing to have to deal with. Quite often they do not want to confront the issue and it’s hard to broach the topic with them head on. I ran into this problem last year with a close family member. She was missing work and constantly high. On the verge of being evicted, the family banded together to try to get her some help. I spoke with a counselor at a local Florida drug rehab center to see if there was anything that we could do to help her overcome her addiction. We were told that, unfortunately, she had to want to stop before any treatment could have the possibility of working.
Just to be prepared, I did some research on several Florida drug treatment centers for when the time came that she wanted help. Thankfully when she lost her job she realized that she had a problem and needed help. We got her into a good facility and she’s been clean for four months now. We were lucky that the Florida drug rehab facility that we chose was top notch and gave her the best chances of staying clean.
