The areas that we feel inadequate in as learners are all different. Ask me to learn about data capture systems or the work of networked scanning system providers and I’m as comfortable as a pea in a pod. But ask me to learn how to draw or paint and I immediately will tell you that it’s something I “just can’t learn”. And although I think that I can get better at improving my relationships, it’s taken me a long time to learn that this is something that I can learn.

I wish that it wasn’t this way for me. I wish that I could look at any area of life and think to myself that I could learn how to do it if only I tried. I’m not quite there. And I think that’s because that’s not what we learn when we’re little. We learn our ABCs. We learn specific things. But we don’t learn explicitly that we are able to learn. That needs to change.

To me college wasn’t just about the university diploma, the fancy college diploma frame to hang on my wall, or the career advancement.  While those things are all quite nice, the experience of college is what I miss the most.

I’m not talking the dorm experience or the party college experience, either.  I didn’t stay in the dorms or go to a party school, so I actually never even experienced those things.  No, what I miss most is being in a scholarly environment.

I love to learn, and even now that I’m not in college, I still read scholarly books and research things on the Internet just for the sake of learning.  I also love being on campus: studying in the student lounges, grabbing lunch between classes, etc.  I just love the concept of being a student.

I suppose it’s only a matter of time before I go back.  I’ve considered getting my master’s degree in either creative writing or professional writing, but I can’t decide which.  The only bad thing is, all of the programs I am considering are online programs, which means I will miss out on one of the things I liked best about being a student: being on campus!

Business skills that should be taught in school include:

• Basic printing and presentation skills. Every business requires that you do a little bit of brochure printing or some online presentations. You don’t need the skills of a commercial printing company for this but you should be taught the basics during business school.
• Human psychology. Business really is all about working with people. To work well with people, you need to understand people. There should be more psychology courses in business schools.
• Personal finance. People who work in business really ought to have a thorough understanding of their own personal finances and not just the typical business accounting that is taught in these programs. This knowledge puts business school students at an advantage in the world.

If these things were taught in business school, don’t you think that business school would be so much better?

The first thing that you’ll learn in swim class is form. You will learn how to properly shape your body so that you perform different strokes and kicks correctly. This helps you to move through the water in the most efficient manner.

The next thing that you will learn in swimming classes is improved propulsion. This means that you’ll learn how to put those strokes and kicks to good use so that you can go further in the water than you did before. Good form will help with this.

And finally, you will learn about stamina. Stamina in swimming means that you are able to continue all of that stroking and kicking for long periods of time without getting winded. This is taught through learning to breathe properly and to control your body. And of course, this stuff is all learned through practice, practice, practice!

I thought about getting one of those student credit cards but a student loan met my needs better than a credit card.  I searched on-line to see if I could find some additional information about the right student loan and I found a great site that offered a comparison of multiple lenders and the best rates.  I also discovered that I didn’t have to worry about my credit score because the student loans I was researching weren’t based on credit.  I submitted my application and I got a really fast approval. 

Going to school has been a dream I wasn’t sure I could fulfill because my parents couldn’t afford to pay for it.  Although, now that I have received my student loan I will be able to focus on my studies instead of worry about how my tuition will get paid.

The C7 bulbs are far stronger than the mini lights many people have been using in the past. These bulbs last longer and emit a great deal more light which is what everyone is looking for. Why not go with the longer lasting lights and save on replacements and burnt out bulbs? You Christmas displays will look brighter, more festive and yes of course more vibrant. I’d love to be able to get someone to do some background services on some of these kids.  Even a background check on some parents might shed light on the potentials of a child.  But of course, you can’t get enough vital information to do this.  I’m taking a Crisis Prevention Intervention class right now, and even the instructors agree that school districts err too far on the side of confidentiality and simply don’t provide enough information to teachers or even bus drivers, librarians and lunch workers.  

I really wouldn’t hold information against anyone, but it would sure help in the way I approach certain students.  I guess there’s a small part of me that wants to protect myself, too.

I also looked for online schools that offer foreign language classes, since I’d like to take some Spanish.  That’s a language that will always be useful even if I don’t work overseas at some point.  We are getting more Hispanic workers in our area. Some of them are coming to the bank to open new accounts, so I want to communicate better with them.  No one on our staff is fluent in Spanish.  I talked to my supervisor about this last week; today she told me the bank would pay my tuition for any Spanish courses I take, including online classes.  She also said that could lead to a raise in pay, depending on performance reviews.  That was great news, so I’ll probably try an online Spanish class first.
